List of Scholarships

Thanks to the vision and generosity of many donors, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to eligible applicants with diverse criteria.  Descriptions and deadlines for scholarships are below. You will only be able to apply for scholarships currently accepting applications. We encourage you to browse the descriptions that are linked to the names of the scholarships.

Associated Grocers-Sam S. Politz Scholarship

Application Opens: Jan. 1, 2019
Application Deadline: March 1, 2019

Eligibility: Students must be Louisiana high school seniors or graduates enrolling full time into an accredited university or college. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, a minimum ACT/SAT score of 25, and have taken honors and/or advanced placement courses.


Boudreaux Family Scholarship

Application Opens: March 1, 2019
Application Deadline: March 29, 2019

Eligibility: The applicant must be a Zachary High school graduating senior who is enrolled in an accredited college or university full time. 


Paul F. Brown Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: May 1, 2019

Eligibility: This scholarship is to be awarded to an incoming freshman accepted to the Louisiana State University School of Music as a full-time student. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or above and be a resident of Louisiana. This scholarship is by invite only. Invitations will be sent by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.


Stephen W. Cavanaugh Scholarship

Application Opens:  Jan. 1, 2019
Application Deadline: July 20, 2019

Eligibility: This fund provides scholarships to deserving Louisiana students who are or will be majoring in an insurance related field at a Louisiana university, college, or community college. 


Roger J. Clouatre Memorial Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: April 30, 2019

Eligibility: A public high school graduate of Ascension Parish who has a record of sound achievement in their studies, minimum GPA of 3.0, and are good school citizens. Students must show leadership qualities within and beyond their peer group as well as take initiative in school or the broader civic life of the community.


Claude l. Cockerham III Charitable Fund
Application opens: January 1, 2019
Application deadline: April 16, 2019

Eligibility:  To be eligible for this for this scholarship, applicants must be graduating from East Ascension High School located in Gonzales, Louisiana. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Pursuing a post-secondary education in criminal justice or in the United States Armed Forces,

  • At least 17 years of age prior to the award date,

  • Earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, and

  • Participated in ROTC during high school


Cheryl D. Conkling Memorial Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: July 2, 2019

Eligibility: This scholarship supports students with hearing or other physical hardships who have demonstrated a love for education. This scholarship is only open to students who live and/or attend school in Windsor, Colorado; Conroe, Texas; Wilkinson County, Mississippi; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; or West Feliciana Parish in Louisiana. Students must be a high school senior enrolling in an accredited college or university in the fall when the scholarship is awarded. Preference may be given to students with hearing or other physical impairments, students not receiving other substantial aid, and/or students in Louisiana.


Karen E. Domingue-Maillet and Solvay/Eco Services Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: April 15, 2019

Eligibility: To be eligible for this scholarship the applicant must be in the upper 50% of their senior class, demonstrate good character, be a U.S. citizen, and must also be a resident of East Baton Rouge Parish with a demonstrated need for financial assistance. This scholarship is only open to May high school graduate students attending either Baker, Glen Oaks, Istrouma, or Scotlandville High Schools.


Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 201
Application Deadline: May 31, 2019

Eligibility: You must be employed by an ADMAX or Associated Grocers store part-time and be an incoming or current graduate currently enrolled full time in a college or university in the fall semester when the scholarship is awarded.


Harriet Babin Miller Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: April 1, 2019

Eligibility: The applicant must be a Dutchtown High School student who exhibits scholastic ability, good citizenship, leadership, and community service. This award will recognize leadership by selecting a graduate who has taken initiative in school activities and organizations that contribute to an improved quality of life for the greater community.


Aaron Bernard Murray and Fay Tyler Murray Education Encouragement Award

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: March 30, 2019

Eligibility: The applicant must be graduating from Baton Rouge Magnet High School with sound academic achievement and demonstrate good citizenship. The applicant must show leadership qualities within and beyond their peer group and must have taken initiatives in school and/or the broader civic life of the community. Only Baton Rouge Magnet High School students nominated by a teacher or school administrator are eligible to apply. These nominations should be considered endorsements of the student and his or her participation and engagement in activities that have expanded the quality of life for others.


Lori and Richard Pellerin Scholarship Fund

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline
: March 15, 2019

Eligibility: To be eligible for this for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • In their final year of study for a degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Physical Therapy Assistant, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant;

  • A U.S. citizen;

  • Enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university;

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0; and

  • Be related to an employee of Century Rehabilitation or one of its affiliates


David and Jeannie Price Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: May 1, 2019

Eligibility: The applicant must be a full-time junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in business at either Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge or the University of Missouri in Columbia. To be considered for this scholarship the applicant must have cumulative GPA of 3.5 and be of good character.


St. James Parish Scholarship

Application Opens: January 1, 2019
Application Deadline: May 31, 2019

Eligibility: Students must be graduating or have graduated from Lutcher High School or St. James High School and currently reside in or maintain a permanent address in the 4th or 5th district of St. James Parish. Students must be enrolled in a college, university, or vocational school.


Twiley, Marie and Bringier Barker Scholarship

Application opens: January 1, 2019
Application deadline: May 15, 2019

Up to four scholarships will be awarded to seniors graduating from a public high school in one of the Florida Parishes (East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington or West Feliciana) who have a 2.7 cumulative GPA and have been accepted into a university or college as a full time student.


Three Cs' Scholarship

Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Eligibility: One-time award used to pay tuition for a United States Coast Guard Captains approved license course. The applicant must be a current deck hand in South Louisiana.
