The Water Campus

The Foundation and Commercial Properties Realty Trust, which manages our real estate assets, started building the 1.2 million-square-foot Water Campus in 2015.

Located on Nicholson Drive on 35 acres of riverfront property, the Campus will be home to scientists, engineers and many others are teaming up to offer the best science for solving coastal problems.

Construction is underway for the first two tenants: Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and the LSU Center for River Studies. A parking structure that include apartments with a view of the river and an office building are on the construction timeline for 2016. So is the iconic building of the Water Campus, the headquarters for The Water Institute of the Gulf on the old city dock.

Developing over the next decade, The Water Campus will rise on 35 acres along the Mississippi, adjacent to downtown Baton Rouge. In that time, the number of researchers and support staff employed at the facility will expand to over 4,000.
