STEPHEN W. CAVANAUGH SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established January 2007 by the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation (LWCC) to honor the memory of Mr. Stephen W. Cavanaugh. Mr. Cavanaugh served as the President and CEO of LWCC until 2006. He was an extraordinary leader who made lasting contributions to the insurance industry in Louisiana. He is succeeded by Kristin W. Wall, who has served as president and CEO since Mr. Cavanaugh’s departure.
This fund provides scholarships to deserving students who are or will be majoring in an insurance-related field at a Louisiana university, college, or community college.
Subject to availability of funds, the fund will award a four-year scholarship, payable $1,000 a semester for eight semesters, for a total of $8,000. The scholarship may be used toward the following, in order of priority: tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and commuting expenses.

- An essay of 250 – 500 words that explains why the applicant is pursuing a career in the insurance industry.
- Letter of Recommendation
- Official proof of enrollment letter from school - a letter or certificate confirming student is enrolled full-time in the semester they are applying for. The letter must be signed or have the school’s official seal. Please note that an invoice, class schedule, registered or pre-registered letter, or any other document will not be accepted.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 20, 2018
RENEWAL: To remain eligible, the recipient must maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA each semester and full-time status. At the end of each semester, the recipient will provide the Foundation with a transcript, proof of full-time enrollment for the next semester, and a signed statement verifying the student is still pursuing a degree in an insurance-related field. The subsequent scholarship check will be issued only upon receipt of these documents.
