WRKF SCHOLARSHIP IN BROADCAST JOURNALISM
The WRKF Scholarship in Broadcast Journalism Fund was established in April of 1993 by WRKF through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to promote the study of broadcast journalism at Louisiana State University and Southern University.
Scholarship awards will be made available to full-time college students who are majoring in Mass Communications/ Broadcasting at either Louisiana State University or Southern University. All candidate must have earned at least 60 hours minimum, 90 hours maximum credits toward a communications/broadcast degree and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students with financial need.
The scholarship award is a one-time award of $1,000. Students meeting the criteria will be awarded a scholarship to be used toward the following, in order of priority: tuition and fees; room and board; books and supplies; and commuting expenses. The recipients are to be selected by a Scholarship Advisory Committee.
In addition to submitting the Common Application, applicants must submit the following:
- Academic resume
- Personal statement or essay
- Letter of recommendation
- Proof of financial need – FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
Applications must be submitted by June 1.
All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions within two months of the due date.
