Grants

The Foundation's list of available grants and applications are on this page. Beside each listing is a brief description of areas funded by the grants and other information, such as dates when applicants are notified whether they have been chosen for a grant.

All information and attachments requested in the guidelines must be included upon submission for grant proposals to be considered complete. Incomplete proposals may be withdrawn until a complete proposal is submitted.

All Grant requests should be received by 5:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. on Fridays) on the deadline date. If the deadline date falls on a weekend, requests are due on the Friday before the weekend. If the deadline date falls on a holiday, requests are due on the business day prior to the holiday. For more information, contact grantmaking@braf.org.

Community Coffee Fund { DOWNLOAD PDF}
A corporate Donor Advised Field of Interest Fund of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, the Community Coffee Fund seeks to support innovative programs that will measurably improve the results of pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade education.
Grant Range: $5,000 to $25,000
Application Deadlines: March 15, Sept. 15
Notification Dates: May 15, Nov. 15

Credit Bureau of Baton Rouge DOWNLOAD PDF }
The Credit Bureau of Baton Rouge Foundation funds school, business and civic programs that educate about the consumer credit system and the wise use of consumer credit. The fund also addresses other current and emerging community needs and opportunities.
Grant Range: $2,500 to $50,000
Application Deadlines: Feb. 15
Notification Date: April 24

Farrnbacher Memorial Fund { DOWNLOAD PDF}
A Field of Interest Fund of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Farrnbacher Memorial Fund seeks to improve the lives of persons in East Baton Rouge Parish who are in need of eyecare but can't afford it.
Grant Range: $5,000 to $15,000
Application Deadlines: May 1, Nov. 1
Notification Dates: Aug. 1, Feb. 1

Charles Lamar Family Foundation  { DOWNLOAD PDF }
The  Charles Lamar Family Foundation fosters stable nonprofits that improve the region. It supports emerging, maturing and expanding nonprofits that respond to community challenges and opportunities. Funding is intended to support organizations that can demonstrate their capacity with viable operating plans. 
Grant Range: Up to $30,000
Application Deadlines: March 1, Sept. 1

Healthcare Grantmaking Program - Special Topic - Childhood Obesity DOWNLOAD PDF }
The Healthcare Grantmaking Program supports projects that focus on the prevention of disease or illness through healthcare education programs, encouraging healthy behaviors, illness prevention and treatment and chronic disease management. From August 2007 through November 2008, the Healthcare Grantmaking Program Advisory Committee will review applications from collaborating nonprofits with programs addressing the growing epidemic of childhood obesity.
Grant Range: $1,000 to $40,000
Application Deadline: March 3, 2008
Notification Dates: July 1, 2008

E.J. and Marjory B. Ourso Foundation  { DOWNLOAD PDF}
The Ourso Foundation makes grants to support South Louisiana nonprofits that create new and beneficiail projects focused on education, health care, human services and religion.
Grant Range:   Up to $20,000
Application Deadlines: March 31, June 30, Sept. 30, Dec. 31
Notification Dates: May 15, Aug. 15, Nov. 15, Feb. 15

Powell Group Fund { DOWNLOAD PDF}
This fund makes grants in the areas of arts and humanities, community development, education, environment, health care and human services.
Grant Range:  Up to $5,000
Application Deadlines: Feb. 1, Aug. 1
Notification Dates: April 15, Oct. 15.

Starbucks Coast Fund DOWNLOAD FILE }
The Starbucks Coast Fund is a three-year grantmaking program launched in April 2007 to enhance communities after Katrina. The service region is East and West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Ascension, Iberville, Pointe Coupee and Livingston.
Grant Range:  $2,500 to $10,000
Application Date: March 1, 2008
Notification Date: June 2008

Young Women's Christian Organization Fund { DOWNLOAD PDF}
The purpose of this fund, a Donor Advised Field of Interest Fund, is to improve the lives of girls and women in the region.
Grant Range:Up to $5,000
