Through the generosity of Shintech Corporation, the St. James Parish Scholarship was established in honor of the citizens of St. James Parish.

Scholarships are provided to assist selected graduating/graduated high school students from Lutcher High School and St. James High School who currently reside in the 4th or 5th district of St. James Parish, Louisiana, and who enroll fulltime in a college, university or vocational school.

Up to four scholarships will be awarded each year, subject to availability of funds. Each award shall be for a maximum of eight consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring only), $500 per semester. The scholarship award is to be used toward the following, in order of priority: tuition and fees; room and board; books and supplies; and commuting expenses. The recipients are selected by the Scholarship Advisory Committee.

In completing the online common application, applicants must submit the following:

  • Transcript
  • Academic resume
  • Personal statement or essay
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Proof of financial need – FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

Applications must be submitted by May 31st. All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions within two months of the due date.

To receive the maximum number of scholarship payments, students must maintain full-time status each semester, part-time enrollment will be considered if the maintains employment. The student must also maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students must provide the Foundation with an official transcript, proof of enrollment every semester to receive payment and employment if applicable.
