KAREN E. MAILLET-DOMINGUE AND SOLVAY/ECO SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

HISTORY
The Karen E. Domingue-Maillet and Solvay/Eco Services Scholarship was established by Rhodia, now Solvay/Eco Services, and the Domingue family to honor Karen E. Domingue-Maillet’s life and work. The Scholarship Advisory Committee are members from the Solvay/Eco Services Community Advisory Panel (CAP), a group of local community members in the Scotlandville area who meet monthly with Solvay/Eco Services officials to discuss issues of mutual concern and to give advice and feedback on these issues.

ELIGIBILITY
Each year, one scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior from Baker High School, Glen Oaks High School or Scotlandville Magnet High School. Qualified candidates must be in the upper 50% of his/her senior class, exhibit good character and show financial need.

AWARD
Each year, the Scholarship Committee will determine the number of scholarships awarded each year. Scholarship awards are $1,000 per semester (Fall and Spring only). After the first semester, an additional $250 per semester will be awarded to students who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, and an additional $250 upon completion of final semester, making the scholarship worth up to $10,000.

REQUIREMENTS
In applying through the online common application, applicants must submit the following:

  • Transcript
  • ACT/SAT
  • Academic Resume
  • Personal Statement or Essay
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Proof of financial need – FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

DEADLINE
Applications must be submitted by March 1. All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions within two months of the due date.

RENEWAL
To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum 2.0 overall GPA each semester. At the end of each semester, the recipient will provide the Foundation with an official transcript and proof of full-time enrollment for the next semester. The subsequent scholarship check will be issued only upon receipt of these materials.
