When donors come to us, we listen to what they want to do and hope to achieve, then jointly establish a path for their philanthropy. They can establish a charitable fund with a minimum of $10,000.
Once a fund is open, they can deposit assets, such as stock, shares of closely-held organizations and real estate, into the account. Then, donors can use the Foundation's secure online portal or contact our partnership relations department to research nonprofits before recommending grants to organizations that align with their causes. The Foundation's finance and donor services divisions issue grants and handle all the necessary documentation.
Agencies and organizations can start charitable funds with the Foundation as well. We manage and invest millions of dollars on behalf of nonprofits.
Another option is to start a supporting organization, a nonprofit aligned with the Foundation but with an independent governing board. An example of supporting nonprofits include Credit Bureau of Baton Rouge.
