GROCERY MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVES ASSOCIATION (GMRA) SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Association (GMRA) is an organization of approximately 80 companies formed to promote a feeling of goodwill and cooperation among all sales representatives, to prevent trade abuses, to promote uniformity and certainties in business practices and to establish confidence among sellers, buyers and sales representatives.
This scholarship offers financial assistance to outstanding full-time college or university students who are currently employed by any of the ADMAX or Associated Grocers stores. GMRA Scholarship awards are between $500 and $1,500 per semester, subject to availability of funds, for up to eight consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring only). Scholarship awards shall be used toward the following, in order of priority: tuition and fees; books and supplies; room and board; and commuting expenses up to fifty dollars a month. Recipients must apply for the scholarship annually and must remain employed by any ADMAX or Associated Grocers.
In addition to submitting the online application, applicants must submit the following:
- Academic resume
- Personal statement or essay on "why I would consider a career in the grocery industry."
- Letter of recommendation from store manager
Applications must be submitted by June 15. All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions within two months of the due date.
To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum 2.0 overall GPA each semester. At the end of each semester, the recipient will provide the Foundation with an official transcript, proof of full-time enrollment for the next semester, and employment verification with Admax or Associated Grocers by store manager. The subsequent scholarship check will be issued only upon receipt of these materials.
