CHERYL D. CONKLING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

HISTORY
Despite Cheryl physical hardships of gamma globulin anemia and hearing loss, she had a love of education and music and excelled in them. Cheryl was a brilliant student and graduated Summa Cum Laude from college. The scholarship is named in her honor.

ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship support students with hearing or other physical hardships who have demonstrated a love of education. Students must be a high school senior enrolling in an accredited college or university in the fall when the scholarship is awarded. Preference may be given to students not receiving other substantial financial aid, and to students in East Baton Rouge Parish. Please note, no exceptions will be made. Students must meet all criteria.

AWARD
Subject to the availability of funds, the Scholarship Committee will determine the number of scholarships awarded each year. Scholarship awards are $1,500 per semester (fall and spring only) for eight semesters up to $12,000.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Academic resume
  • Personal statement or essay
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Proof of financial need – FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
  • Official proof of enrollment letter from school

DEADLINE
May 31, 2018

RENEWAL
To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA each semester. At the end of each semester, the recipient must provide the Foundation with an official transcript and proof of full-time enrollment for the next semester. The scholarship check will only be issued upon receipt of these documents.
