CHERYL D. CONKLING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

HISTORY
Despite Cheryl physical hardships of gamma globulin anemia and hearing loss, she acquired a love of education and music and excelled in them. Cheryl was a brilliant student and graduated Summa Cum Laude from college. The scholarship, named in her honor, is to support students who have overcome physical hardships and have a demonstrated love of education.

ELIGIBILITY
Scholarships are provided to graduating high school seniors. Preference will be given to students with hearing or other physical impairments, financial need and students from Windsor, Colorado; Conroe, Texas; and Wilkinson County, Mississippi.

AWARD
Subject to the availability of funds, the Scholarship Committee will determine the number of scholarships awarded each year. Scholarship awards are $1,500 per semester (fall and spring only) for eight semesters or $12,000.

REQUIREMENTS
In addition to submitting the online application, applicants must submit the following:

  • Transcript
  • ACT/SAT
  • Academic resume
  • Personal statement or essay
  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Proof of financial need – FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

DEADLINE
Applications must be submitted by March 1. All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions within two months of the due date.

RENEWAL
To maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum 2.0 overall GPA each semester. At the end of each semester, the recipient must provide the Foundation with an official transcript and proof of full-time enrollment for the next semester. The subsequent scholarship check will be issued only upon receipt of these materials.
