As the nonprofit sector has evolved in response to social and economic changes, it is clear that diversification of funding sources is critical to sustainability and sound financial management. LATAN is seeking support to diversify their funding through the development of a mission-based Social Enterprise. This diversification of funding will allow LATAN to continue its program impact and contribute to their sustainability. The first phase of the project will be to survey Social Enterprise models for mission-based businesses, and provide LATAN with organizational business expertise at a cost of $50,000. The second phase will launch a mission-based business. There are three strategies through which this objective will be accomplished: completing a business plan, securing seed money for the venture, and creating a staff position of Social Enterprise Business Manager.
