The Baton Rouge Area Foundation is responding to the oil disaster by raising funds, advising donors, and writing grants for long-term recovery of the Gulf Coast.

The Foundation’s programs are:

Rig Worker Assistance Fund

Upon request from President Barack Obama, BP set aside $100 million to assist rig workers who are affected by the federal moratorium on drilling deepwater wells. BP has donated the $100 million to a support foundation of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation that will make hardship grants to rig workers. Details of the charitable program are at this link.

Colbert Nation Gulf of America Fund

Stephen Colbert and his generous fans are supporting relief efforts. The host of the Colbert Report and leader of the Colbert Nation has established the Colbert Gulf of America Fund at the Foundation. You can find more information and donate to the fund at this link.

Foundation Funds

The Foundation has created charitable funds to do whatever is necessary to save the environment, and to make sure the people of the coast get another chance to make a respectable living. More about those funds at this link.

The Northshore Community Foundation, our affiliate, has a charitable fund that was established by Abita Brewing Co. Read about that fund at Abita.com.
