The No Kill BR initiative began in September of 2009 when the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and animal advocates gathered to write a plan for reducing the high kill rate at East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Control.

Since then, three key initiatives have emerged to reduce the dog and cat euthanasia rate, which was more than 9,000 by EBR Animal Control in 2009.

New nonprofits YelpBr and Project Purr are finding homes for dogs and cats through foster care and off-site adoptions.

Companion Animal Alliance is seeking to implement a proven set of programs to eliminate avoidable shelter deaths, known as the No Kill Equation.

Animal advocates have moved very quickly over just a year. But there’s much more to do. Help CAA continue this effort by donating at the link below. Your donation is tax deductible.
