The Foundation generally offers grants to nonprofits working in its service region - East and West Baton Rouge Parish, East and West Feliciana, Ascension, Livingston, Iberville and Pointe Coupee. Only nonprofits that are registered as 501(c)(3) corporations can apply for grants.

How does your nonprofit apply for a grant?
All grant funds are listed on the Grants Available page. Beside each fund is a brief description of the areas funded, application deadlines and when the Foundation notifies nonprofits that have won the grants. Each fund also has related grant applications for seeking funding.

What are our deadlines?
All grant requests must be received by 5 p.m. (4 p.m. on Fridays) on the deadine date. If the deadline date falls on a weekend, requests are due on the Friday before the weekend. If the deadline date falls on a holiday, requests are due on the business day prior to the holiday.

How do we notify applicants?
Most funds have notficiation dates. The Foundation notifies applicants - whether they receive grants or not - by mail.

Who chooses grant winners?
The Foundation's partnership relations department reviews the applications and submits summaries to committees that review the grants and recommend approval or denial to the Foundation's board. The board meets to review and votes on final approval of grants.

What are the responsiblities of the grant winners?
Nonprofits receiving the grant must provide reports as stipulated in each grant agreement. The Foundation's grantmaking staff also does site visits to examine nonprofits and determine whether grant money is being used to improve the quality of life in the region.
