The Foundation makes thousands of grant awards each year, thanks to generous donors. In 2008, the Foundation granted more than $15 million to 501(c)(3)nonprofits. Grants are either recommended by donors or selected through a competitive process. The Foundation's board, which represents the community, approves or denies grant requests after grant applications are reviewed by the Foundation's staff.
