It is time: you have an idea, a wish to make the world a better place. Consider us your next step. We connect philanthropists like you with the causes they care about most.
At the Foundation, you can open a charitable fund to make grants. It's like an investment account for doing good. We will manage the fund on your behalf, making your philanthropy effective and enduring.
OPEN A FUND IN THREE STEPS
- Talk with Elizabeth Hutchison of the Foundation to outline charitable interests and terms of your fund. Reach her directly at (225) 381-7080 or EHutchison@braf.org.
- Select a name and type of fund.
- Deposit a tax-deductible donation to the fund and begin making grants to nonprofits.
TYPES OF FUNDS
Donor Advised Fund Well-suited for individuals. They can make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit and then recommend grants from the fund over time. DAFs are opened with a minimum gift of $10,000.
Corporate Advised Fund Companies open the funds and make grants, sometimes using committees that are comprised of employees.
Designated Organization Fund A fund that is established to benefit one or more nonprofits, as specified by the donor.
Field of Interest Fund A fund to make grants to causes, such as arts or education.
Scholarships A fund to support students by underwriting tuition and fees.

Asset Management Your assets will be pooled with other funds and be managed by top Wall Street firms that are overseen by the Foundation's investment committee.
Flexible Funding We accept assets of many types. They include:
- Real estate
